Podcasting Basics
WHAT IS PODCASTING?
Basically, podcasts are sound files very similar to MP3 files and those files used by Apple's iPods. If you subscribe, you will be notified each time a new podcast is made available on our web site. Your subscription will automatically download the new podcast so that you can listen to it through your computer or download it to your MP3 player/iPod. Podcasts are similar to listening to a radio show. You do not need to have an MP3 player or iPod to listen to a podcast, virtually any computer will allow you to listen to the podcast. An MP3 player or iPod simply allows you to take the podcast with you when you leave the computer.
HOW DO I GET STARTED?
To get started, you will need to get a "podcatcher." There are many free programs. Here are two to choose from:
Juicer

iPodder

NEXT STEP?
You can now subscribe to our podcasts by pasting the following line of text into your "podcatcher."

NOW WHAT?
When the Brief Therapy Institute of Denver posts a new podcast, your podcatcher will "catch it" and you can either listen to the podcast or download it to your MP3
player or iPod. Go to our Podcast Directory to listen or download our available podcasts.
BEST PART?
You are now "Good to Go." If you find a podcast particularly helpful, download it to your MP3 player or iPod and take it with you. Podcasts on such topics as anxiety, mood or stress management are designed with the intention you can be reminded of strategies and coping skills.
