Tracy Todd, Ph.D., LMFT

December 23, 2007

Dear Clients, Colleagues:

I hope you are having a great holiday season.

A completely unexpected situation has presented itself to me in the past few weeks.  The American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy interviewed me for a position at the national office located in Washington DC.  The position, Director of Professional and Public Affairs, involves the management of governmental affairs at state and federal levels, working with private payers (insurance companies), Minority Fellowship Program, supervice the Ethics Committee, and assist 24,000 members in remaining viable professionals in the behavioral health care arena.  After a very intense interview process, the AAMFT offered me the position and I have decided to accept the offer.

As many of you may know, I travel the country speaking to mental health professionals about business development issues. This position allows me to assist professionals on a national level and I am truly honored to have been selected.  I will start my new position in Washington DC on February 4, 2008.

During the month of January I will work closely with all current clients in transitioning your care to a trusted professional.  Upon my departure, the Brief Therapy Institute of Denver will continue to store your files and you will be able to retrieve necessary information when needed by contacting Tracey Ayers at 303-654-4355.

Although this is an exciting time for me, I completely understand the anxiety my new situation may create for you. Rest assured, I will do whatever I can to help you transition to a new provider in a smooth and confident manner.

Thank you for allowing me to provide your mental health services.

Sincerely,

Tracy Todd, Ph.D., LMFT

President

Tracy’s Approach to Therapy

Tracy has a three-fold approach to therapy. First, he has the fundamental belief that all clients have strengths, resources and resiliencies that enable them to overcome challenging situations.  His approach is to identify these qualities and help you utilize them in treatment.  Second, he believes that if he does his job well, you should not be in therapy for long periods of time. Meaning, through education (handouts, instruction, etc.) he will help you achieve the skills needed to solve current and future problems. Finally, he helps you identify and set treatment strategies and goals for therapy.  These strategies and goals will be clear, logical, and practical.  He has a no nonsense approach to therapy, emphasizing practical solutions and guidance.
